Hi Eloisa,
I just got back from a long time away (taking my daughter to college,
followed by a long "avoiding the empty nest" vacation). Going through the
emails and saw this.
I realize you have probably received a ton of responses, but here are a few
topics. Trying not to send too many.
Sheryl
1. Do we know the public health implications of transportation
difficulties for traveling to medical appointments? (People avoiding
appointments, skipping treatments, etc.)
2. What are the differences in public health between high-quality
transit areas and those without transit or with very little?
3. What is the role of taxi service in promoting walking, biking, or
using transit one way, but having the availability of a guaranteed ride
home?
4. What are the public health implications of complete streets (assuming
intersections where there is enough time for seniors and others to cross
the street) for seniors and people with disabilities?
5. What are easy and available public health indicators that can be used
when proposing a transit service or expanding it? (Especially in those
places without extra staff or money to do an in-depth HIA.)
6. Does crime affect public health in terms of mobility choices? Are
high-crime areas, even those with good streets and transit, not seeing the
benefits of those amenities in terms of health?
