The USDOT Health in Transportation Working Group developed a Framework for Better Integrating Health into Transportation Corridor Planning<http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/planning/health_in_transportation/planning_framewor…>. The framework provides action-oriented information and step-by-step tools transportation practitioners need to incorporate health into their corridor planning process. The framework is based on corridor planning technical steps that are familiar to practitioners and highlights specific activities that can inform transportation decisions at each step making it possible to support healthy outcomes while improving the transportation system. [H+T--Friends] Health Related Calls for Research (TRB)

With Spring in the air the Transportation Research Board committees and subcommittees are making their plans for the annual meeting. For many of them one the activities is to issue Calls for Research papers focused on topics that the committee is interested in. With Public Health being one of the three critical issue areas for the 2017 Annual Meeting the Health and Transportation Subcommittee worked with several other committees on a suite of health related calls for research papers. They include; * Impact of Freight on Public Health * Transportation and Environmental Health Governance * Critical Issues Associated with Arterials (Major Roads) and Public Health * Data, Methods, and Models to Integrate Transportation and Public Health All four of the Calls can be found on the Subcommittee's website at http://www.trbhealth.org/ or on the TRB website by signing in through your MyTRB account (https://annualmeeting.mytrb.org/CallForPapers/index) All papers for publication and/or presentation must be submitted by August 1, 2016. Only complete papers, conforming to TRB standards and format will be considered. Papers may also be submitted for presentation only. Each paper will be peer-reviewed according to TRB procedures. Very interesting. Some papers may want to take these ideas further in high density areas, to explore:Pooling of freight - where one distributor in a sector with many restaurants delivers a variety of beer to them from Abita to Zanzibar.
