Many US cities and towns have anti-spitting ordinances, passed over a hundred years ago,
when TB was very common in the US. At the same time, sanitariums were established,
especially out West, such as in Colorado, and people moved to Arizona for the clear air
and healthy conditions. Thus TB and transportation have been intersecting for a long time.
