[H+T--Friends] TRB call for papers: Impact of Freight on Public Health

I am pleased to share with you that the TRB Health and Transportation Subcommittee has partnered with the Intermodal Freight Terminal Design and Operations Committee and the Urban Freight Transportation Committee to develop a call for papers related to the impact of freight on public health. The CFP has been approved by TRB and posted here: https://annualmeeting.mytrb.org/CallForPapers/Details/260 Sample topics include the following: 1. Research on recent innovations in air quality regulatory standards: have they affected public health; have companies been able to come into compliance with federal ambient air quality standards? 2. Links between the freight and logistics industries and community health issues, such as air quality, noise abatement, hazardous materials, food security, emergency preparedness, and active transportation. 3. The relationship between freight and social determinants of health (SDOH) (e.g., increased access to healthy foods or improved health effects of living wage jobs associated with the freight and logistics sectors) 4. Models and/or instruments used to assess freight and public health, particularly at seaports. 5. Use of performance measures in transportation that account for health: what should be measured and how? How should they be standardized? 6. Innovative policies and programs that reduce freight's health risks (e.g., air quality regulatory standards). 7. Freight-related environmental justice issues - distribution of cumulative risk, public participation opportunities/challenges, policy or program solutions.
