For those in the DC area, the National Academy of Sciences is hosting a briefing next
Thursday from 8:30-10 AM on a new report on HIAs in the US. Register to attend at:

The focus of the event is on the National Research Council report, "Improving Health
in the United States: The Role of Health Impact Assessment.” The report assesses the
potential value of conducting health impact assessments of proposed policies, programs,
and projects in topics such as transportation, land use, housing, and agriculture.

The National Research Council will release the report "Improving Health in the United
States: The Role of Health Impact Assessment” on September 8, 2011. The public is invited
to attend a briefing that morning. Members of the authoring committee will discuss the
report, followed by a question-and-answer period. Light breakfast will be available at
8:30 AM and the briefing will begin at 9 AM.
