One thought I didn't submit:
Demand Response software used for connections at fixed route transit hubs should be built
around GTFS-Real Time data feeds. This would ensure that microtransit vehicles arrive
before and leave after the train or bus.
I didn't submit this because 1) the private sector is already trying to build this in;
and 2) I submitted another idea.
The key performance indicator would be % of rides arriving at transit hubs within that
window.
Transit is morphing towards intermodal and often multi-provider linked trips. Too often,
we just focus on fixed route or demand response. The linkages have equal importance for
transit tech.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Research
and Technology (OST-R) is conducting an open “Call for Ideas” session on March 18, 2022,
1:30 – 3:00PM EST.
The purpose of this listening session is to obtain stakeholder input and research ideas to
help inform the development of DOT's Research, Development, and Technology (RD&T)
Strategic Plan for fiscal years (FY) 2022-2026. We welcome your views on USDOT's
research vision, strategic goals, and priorities, and how our research programs can
advance the transportation system of the present and future. The RD&T Strategic Plan
will align with DOT’s Draft Strategic
