We are looking for a dynamic individual with excellent technical and interpersonal and communication skills to join the Environment, Air Quality and Realty Technical Service Team with the Resource Center, Office of Innovation Implementation.
Our current opportunity is an Environmental Protection Specialist position on the Environment Team. This is an outstanding opportunity to serve as a national expert in all matters pertaining to highway transportation and the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA).
We are seeking to fill the current vacancy as either a GS-13 or GS-14, Environmental Protection Specialist.
The selected candidate will:
* Plan and lead NEPA and other environmental program area implementation efforts to advance FHWA's program and project development process.
* Lead or participate in teams charged with exploration of issues, problem resolution, implementation efforts. Develop national and project-level procedures and standards, which facilitates accomplishment of the program and technical assistance role of the Resource Center.
* Provide technical advice, assistance and training on environmental project and program matters to FHWA Division Office and FHWA Headquarters personnel and to officials of state, local and regional agencies across the nation.
* Troubleshoot implementation problems with both internal and external officials. Identify and pursue new partnerships, marketing approaches, and customer participation.
* Provide coordination and liaison to officials within a broad range of governmental agencies at the local, state, and regional level; officials of non-profit organizations, professional associations, public interest groups; representatives of educational institutions, private industry, etc.; and the general public.
