A Practitioner's Guide for Advancing Health Equity is a resource for public health practitioners and other key related disciplines such as urban planners, local policy makers, etc. working to advance health equity through community health interventions. While health disparities can be addressed at multiple levels, this guide focuses on policy, systems, and environmental improvements designed to improve the places where people live, learn, work, and play.
Residents in rural areas, low-income communities, and communities of color are most affected by limited access to healthful food and beverages, making it particularly difficult to make healthy choices. This section of the guide focuses on how to design strategies that address inequities in healthy food and beverage environments.
In addition, not all communities have equal access to physical activity resources or environments that support an active lifestyle. This section of the guide focuses on how to design active living strategies that address the needs of populations experiencing health inequities.
