Hi Folks,
I've been trying to locate CTTP 1980 data at the tract or TAZ level (if they
exist; I was looking for 1970 data as well, but I'm not holding my breath).
So far, I've only found the 1980 county level data from BEA.
Does anyone have any pointers or know if those data were ever compiled?

The 1980 data were called the Urban Transportation Planning Package
(UTPP). Workplace location coding was limited to the urban areas
covered by the DIME files. We have the UTPP data for the Seattle region
at a geography approximating 1980 TAZs - but I'm unsure whether there is
a central repository for the UTPP data.

Larry, unfortunately there is no "official" repository for the 1980
data. When I was at BTS I tried to get a project to do this off the
ground but I was never successful. Over the years when Nanda Srinivasan
was working on CTPP for FHWA he was collecting the data from areas that
still had their data. It was an ongoing exercise. He ended up with
about 15 areas most with little or no documentation, etc. Hopefully,
someday we will be able to get good documentation together and find a
host server. I am glad to hear you have the Seattle data and I trust it
is not still sitting on an old 9 track tape.
As far as the 1970 data it only exists in a few areas that have managed
to move it through the succession of computer formats and time. For all
practical purposes it is best to consider the 1970 data as history.
