Hello Everybody,
I've been following the steps to import the SF1 data into the Access table shell.
Everything was working smoothly until I got to the 8th table to import, and then I got the
following message:
'Cannot open database " . It may not be a database that your application
recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.' (See screenshot below.)
I tried importing the next table, and got the same result. Has anyone run into this
problem? I'm at a loss because, as I said, everything was working fine previously. Any
help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Yep! You ran out of space in your Access file- this is a limitation of Access. You have
to start a new access file.
I put tables 1-7 in one file, tables 8 thru 12 in another file and tables 13-47 plus the
geography table in another.
Then I opened a new access database and linked to the tables in those three access files
so I had access to all the tables in one access database.

Kevin:
I just opened file 8 in Louisiana with TransCAD and it opened OK.
You might try to import it with excel and then import to access.
Perhaps, you might also have a damaged file.

I got the same error at about the same point and found that I had hit the Access file size
limit. I just downloaded an empty shell and started with the next table. Everything went
smoothly from there.

I had the same error after several attempts. It appears that this error occurs when the
database is too large for Access to process (hence the reason it occurs late in the game).
I found the error message to be obtuse and the process frustrating...

Hello Kevin,
Access has a 2GB limit, it is possibility that you have hit that limit. The easiest way
around is to make a copy of empty database with the remaining table shells and import the
data in there. Once you reach the limit on that you will have to create one more database
with the remaining tables and so on.

up against. I'm loading the data into a second database right now, and it's
working.
