For labor force, employment, and business data, you might try your state labor market
information shop. I know the California LMI does have a size of business report from the
Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages. The BLS website is up but will not be updated
during the shutdown so that may be another source.

This is a temporary stopgap and only includes the ACS summary data, but it's possible
that you could get at least some of the information you need.
For those needing ACS summary or microdata files you can go to
www.nhgis.org<http://www.nhgis.org> for summary data and usa.ipums.org for
microdata.
