I would ask around your state planning department or data center, or anyone
that has put demographic profiles of your region online. They may be the
ones that have done this.
Are you familiar with the summary file?
http://www2.census.gov/census_2010/04-Summary_File_1/
This has the data and documentation to set up all the Census data for a
state into a series of Access databases (there is too much data to fit into
just one). It will be time consuming to set up but you'd only have to do it
once. Then you could download your shapefiles and join them to the data as
needed.

Subject: [CTPP] Regional and Statewide Census Geodatabases
We are looking for a pre-configured 2010 Census Geodatabase with both
linework and data attached for at least the state of Indiana, if not also
including the surrounding states. Although all of the data can be downloaded
from the Census Bureau on an as needed basis, we would like a more permanent
copy in-house for our GIS needs and publication to our regional GIS website.
We are hoping to find something pre-built, rather then downloading and
compiling everything ourselves. Any assistance in the endeavor is
appreciated.
