I agree with those who have written to support the list service and to point out the
rather narrow mindedness of those who have decided to leave the list. There is a very easy
to use delete button on the e-mail software that allows one to remove e-mails that are not
of interest. I would hate to see the list become "sanitized" by not permitting
or encouraging discussion of issues, even when there may be controversial views, etc. I
agree that the participants in the recent discussion do not owe an apology to anyone, and
that the list service has actually been used quite properly.
Those who are leaving the list in a huff and peppering the rest of us with their requests
to be removed, instead of using the correct procedure to take themselves off the list have
misused the list far more than any participants in the recent discussions.
