JOB POSTING | TRAVEL DEMAND MODELER
We have an excellent opportunity available for a skilled, dependable, energetic,
self-motivated, and proactive Travel Demand Modeler to join our team.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Travel Demand Modeler will perform a full range of highly technical
and advanced professional transportation planning assignments and activities related to
travel demand modeling and forecasting, including developing and maintaining models to
forecast future travel demand, evaluating transportation system performance, providing
technical expertise in analyzing travel demand model alternatives, and assessing the
relationships between transportation, land use and environmental impacts. As an important
member of the transportation planning team, the Travel Demand Modeler will utilize
demographic, social, economic, physical, fiscal, land use, travel, traffic, modal, and
environmental data to provide in-depth statistical analyses on a variety of transportation
planning issues, and to develop, analyze, evaluate and participate in urban, rural, and
regional transportation system development projects and plans. The Travel Demand Modeler
must be able to work as a collaborative team member, possess excellent verbal and written
communication skills, handle a high volume of work in a busy and demanding environment,
effectively prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously, and actively
contribute to the success of those projects. Accuracy and timeliness in completing
assignments is extremely important. The Travel Demand Modeler will routinely prepare
written materials, presentations, reports, charts, tables, maps, and other graphic
materials as needed to contribute to the success of a project by using word processing,
spreadsheet, presentation, database analysis, or geographic information system software,
the Internet, and electronic mail. The Travel Demand Modeler will also perform related
work, as required and as directed.

MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a
Master's degree in transportation, urban and/or regional engineering, or closely
related field, combined with a minimum of five years of advanced professional experience
directly applying travel demand models and preparing socioeconomic forecasts. Requires a
thorough knowledge of travel demand model specification and development, model calibration
and validation, network coding and updating, transit access representation and coding, and
socioeconomic, demographic, and GIS analysis; or an equivalent combination of education
and directly related travel demand modeling experience that provides the required
knowledge, skills and abilities. Familiarity with TransCad, TranSims, traffic simulation
and GISDK scripting strongly preferred. The successful candidate will also possess
excellent oral and written communication skills, be highly proficient in all Microsoft
Office applications, be extremely detail-oriented, have access to reliable transportation
and possess a valid Iowa driver's license.
