When it does get released the state DOTs and MPOs will receive their copies of
the data direct from the Census Bureau. The CTPP is a special tabulation which
these agencies have paid for through a pooled-fund program organized by the
American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).
From there the Bureau of Transportation Statistics
http://www.bts.gov/ has
agreed to make CTPP 2000 available to the general public.
Although the CTPP will be bundled with extraction stoftware, states or MPOs
wishing to make copies and distribute them will be free to do so. although the
CTPP will be bundled with propietary software it is my understanding that there
will not be any limitation on making copies.

I have a really basic question: Where do I get a copy
of the free CTPP data
set CD? Do I go to our metro planning org or to the Census Bureau or DOT?
