I want to apologize to everyone who perceived that there was
too much stuff
floating across the list today. I was really at a loss to
know whether to
respond Bob LaMacchia privately or on the list, since his
messages had come
through to the list. After a point, it was clear to me that this
discussion did not need to be on the list, and so I messaged
Bob privately
and told him that. The discussion is over.
Neither you nor Bob owe anyone any apologies for anything you wrote -- not
in quantity and certainly not in quality. For those of us who are affected
greatly by the decisions about CTPP data, it is very helpful to understand
some of the background -- even the disputes -- about this very sensitive
issue. When I go back to my MPO Committees and Board to explain that we
will now have to spend several tens of thousands of dollars for an expanded
O-D study next year, I definitely want to be able to answer any questions
they may have -- especially because for the past three years, we have
anticipated receiving useful data from the CTPP.
I will still be most happy to answer questions that
people
have. Perhaps,
however, it's better to do it off list than on list. Also, I
will be out
of the office and email contact from this Thursday, Jan. 30, through
February 11.
I think a full and public airing of these issues is exactly the kind of
information which SHOULD be part of the discussions on this List; and to
those who left in a huff -- good riddance to narrow minds. My thanks to you
and to Bob for your candor, and I would appreciate it if you would continue
such discussions on the List where I can read them and try to better
understand the large and small issues involved.
