Hi John, and everyone else-
1. If you need a SHORT extension to submitting your TAZ and TAD
boundaries, please contact the Census Bureau Geography Staff
IMMEDIATELY. 301-763-1099 email: geo.taz.list(a)census.gov
2. What if your TADs have less than 20,000 residential population?
The goal is to define a geographic unit that will pass the Census
Bureau's 3-year tabulation geography threshold (20,000 population).
This way, after the 2006-2010 (5 year) CTPP is delivered to AASHTO,
there is a potential to request another 3-year CTPP tabulation sometime
in the future using TAD. Right now, the geographic unit in the 3-year
CTPP is limited to PUMA, County and Place with 20,000 population or
more. This is not very useful for large cities.

Being a little slow on the TAZs.
However, a question on the TADs. What do we lose (data wise) if we have
some TADs that total only 15,000, rather than the 20,000?
Thanks,
John

Subject: [CTPP] TAZ delineation update
Over 100 agencies have ALREADY submitted their files to the Census
Bureau Geography Division, with at least 10 agencies submitting files
today (June 16).
The CB GEO staff have found that the TAZ files look pretty good, and
although there are some TAZs that look "too small" these are often in
areas with parks or water areas. They also said that the TADs look VERY
good, with very good adherence to the 20,000 population threshold.
Thank you to everyone! I know the rest of you who are participating in
the program are working very hard to complete this task. Getting the
TAZ and TAD into Census TIGER is one step for the CTPP 5-year
tabulation. This tabulation will use ACS records from 2006-2010.
AASHTO is expected to submit the 5-year table list to the Census
Bureau's Disclosure Review Board this July.
