peter--i have not heard anything specific enough to respond with any conviction
in what i would say. maybe some of the census folks on the list will respond
with more detail. one caution that i will toss out is to pay close attention to
the geography that is being talked about. the GAO report talks mainly about 65K
and 20K population groups. that would be a little larger geography than we are
used to with our TAZs.

Thanks Ed,
The report will be very helpful. Any sense off the top of your head whether
the updates they refer to in the report as annuals are going to be rolling
updates? That is new data will be released for the large areas every 5
years so that over 10 years the sample will actually be longer than the long
form.
I would also make the case that continuously improved traffic flow
data/travel diary information would have emergency preparedness advantages
to planners at many levels. Need to know where all the people are to
evacuate them in an emergency, especially relevant to us with the CBD
construction boom out here.
