It should work. Both are supposed to have the 4 digit tabulation blocks. I
haven't tried it, although I have joined tracts. Where did you get your
block polygons from? Note that the Bureau moved the 2000 geocodes onto the
basic TIGER line record (record type 1) but not the basic poly record
(record type A)--that still has 1990 geocodes and you have to get the 2000
codes off record type S. Actually the 2000 TAZ codes show as being on
record type A, all other geocodes on that rec are documented as 1990.
