Just as a reminder, the 2006-2008 CTPP includes several flow tabulations. The
County-to-County and the Place-to-Place flows are available for download on the Cambridge
Systematics ftp site.
For this, you do not need to learn the data access software on AASHTO's CTPP page.
But, as I mentioned in my post to Beverly yesterday, the MCD flows are only at the AASHTO
page.
County-to-County and Place-to-Place flow data in Cambridge Systematics ftp site. Two data
formats are available: SAS and CSV. The data files also contain CTPP2000 county-to-county
flows for comparison (from CTPP2000 using Census 2000 long forms).
Detailed notes for data files are also available in the same folder.
You only need to log in Cambridge Systematics FTP site using the username and password
below.
The link is:
ftp://ftp.camsys.com/clientsupport/CTPPdata/CTPP2006-2008%20using%20ACS/
Username: 8305CTPP;
Password: 1900NJA
In case it hasn't been clear, the AASHTO CTPP data access system ALSO now includes
copies of the original data sent to AASHTO from the Census Bureau. These are .csv files.
To get to them, after you register,
1. go to "CTPP Full Data Release"
2. Select "Source Data Files"
3. Select the state you want.
4. Download the zipfile and extract.

Hi Beverly, you are probably wanting some geographic unit like an MCD.
The 2006-2008 CTPP includes flows, including MCD flow data (MCD in 12 states), of which I
am 99% sure that includes MA, but this tabulation is restricted to those geographic units
with population 20,000 and over, so it is somewhat of a "swiss cheese" dataset.
The full CTPP data, INCLUDING THE MCD FLOWS, can be found at:
http://ctpp.transportation.org/Pages/3yrdas.aspx
by clicking "take me to the data." The data are available free and can be
accessed after registering and logging in, there is also a tutorial there. Go to CTPP
Part 3 to get the flow data.
PLEASE CONTACT MS. LIANG LONG FOR ASSISTANCE AT 202-366-6971, or PENELOPE WEINBERGER AT
202-624-3556 for assistance on using this software.
For smaller geographic units, the CTPP will not have anything until after the 2006-2010
CTPP is produced. This is expected to include tract and TAZ (where defined).
Also, an information item that doesn't help you, but might be of interest to others...
the Census Bureau is discussing a new "quasi-standard" product for
county-to-county flow using 5-years of ACS data, starting with 2005-2009 ACS. Since
they are just in the development stage, they do not have a schedule, or list of possible
tables (which characteristics to include). They have discussed this concept with the
State Data Center program.

Hello-
Is there any journey to work data available at the community level that is more recent
than the 2000 Census? We are updating our regional transportation plan and would like to
evaluate commuting patterns.
Thanks,
