I already did. Earlier tonight I sent it to Rich Weaver and I will report
back. From a data perspective it is important that we have a sound basis
and understanding of how our various data files inter relate. Concerning
Census products this is especially important as we (the transportation
planning community) are developing a national research approach to examine
the viability and usefulness of the upcoming American Community Survey--the
long form replacement. As far as Chucks missive, its important for all of
us to take this down to lower level geographies where possible. We have
household travel surveys, on board surveys and a whole host of places to
look. We really need to "turn over every stone" and not just go for the
first plausible explanation.

...So, an issue is how to reconcile a 0.0 percent change in national
transit commuters (2000 Census) with a 6.4 percent increase in national
transit ridership (APTA's 2002 Public Transportation Fact Book, Table
26).
==================================
A fair question. Why not pose it to APTA?
