Urban Area boundaries will be released in the Spring of 2012. They will
show up in TIGER in the Fall of 2012. This Spring we should learn what
the criteria will be for defining Urban Areas.
TMIP Listserve:
When will 2010 UZA boundaries and populations be released or has it been
released?
Thanks,

Subject: RE: [CTPP] RE: TAZ delineation training session from February 25.
The TAZ delineations are due back to the Census Bureau Geography Division
within 90 days AFTER you receive notification that the files for your area
are ready. It is expected that MOST areas will get their files from
mid-March (after March 16) through April.
The User Guide will provide instructions on how to use the MTPS TAZ
software, and how to submit the files (via FTP) back to the Census Bureau.
Unfortunately, the User Guide has not yet been approved for release.

Hello:
Does anyone know the date that the TAZ delineations are due?
Does anyone know the agency that we are required to submit the TAZ
delineations?

Subject: [CTPP] TAZ delineation training session from February 25.
Hi Everyone - some of you are NOT involved in TAZ delineation, so you can
just DELETE this email!
But, in case you are involved, and were not able to attend the webinars
that we held on 2/25 and 2/28, here is a link to the recorded session.
http://fhwa.adobeconnect.com/p11971019/
This session will be archived and posted on the AASHTO CTPP webpage TAZ
area:
http://ctpp.transportation.org/Pages/taz.aspx in the near future,
as it will not live on the FHWA NHI site for very long. The Census Bureau
Geography Division expects the TAZ software to be final by March 16, but
the geographic files for all of the nation may not be available at that
time, which is why the term "rolling" release has been used. Since the
Census Bureau Geography Division says that the 90-day turn-around time is
FIRM, you will need to start working on this ASAP! But please note, TAZ
delineation is not mandatory for CTPP. You can use census tracts
(default) or census block groups as your small tabulation geography for
CTPP.
We will update the FAQs for TAZ delineation (currently posted on both the
AASHTO page and the FHWA page
http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/ctpp/tazfaq.htm )
based on the questions and answers from the sessions held on 2/25 and
2/28.
If you are interested in using 2010 Census Block Equivalency Files as a
starting point, the instructions are posted on the FHWA page:
