For now I am done with the paper review assignments. The Urban Data Committee has 32 papers on its plate while I am brokering a review of another 9 papers on health and obesity with 3 other committees. Of our 32 papers about 22 were dealing with travel times/speed or a related aspect. Modeling real time travel time from various types of probe devices like GPS units and cell phones seems to be the hot topic area. In fact we had 6 or 7 papers dealing with cell phones as probes. According to TRB deadlines reviewers have until September 15th to get their reviews back but PLEASE do not wait that long.
