ABJ30 Members and Friends,
NAS is sponsoring a symposium on the science of science communications, which seems relevant to the issue of communicating technical analyses to decision makers. It is in DC and it is full, but one can join via the web.

ABJ30 Members and Friends,
>From Tom Palmerlee:
This is a reminder about the deadline to submit your ideas concerning research to be funded through the NCHRP 08-36 funds. NCHRP 08-36 research is intended to be quick response research designed to develop improvements in analytical methods and tools used in statewide and metropolitan planning or to support the activities of SCOP. Research is to be completed in 12 months or less at a cost of $100,000 or less. For fiscal year 2013, we again have $600,000 to program. To provide for a timely evaluation of research problem statements, we need all submittals by April 1, 2012.
The SCOP Subcommittee on Research has an ongoing web-based system for submitting new Problem Statements. You may submit new Problem Statements at any time through our Subcommittee website at: http://planning.transportation.org/Pages/research.aspx. To be considered in this next cycle we will need to have new statements submitted by April 1, 2012. If you have any questions concerning the submission process please contact Matt Hardy at mhardy(a)aashto.org<mailto:mhardy@aashto.org>. Anyone can submitted proposals to this program.
Regards,
Kate
