I was part of a team that just submitted an updated policy statement, 'Ensuring Equity in Transportation and Land Use Decisions,' to the American Public Health Association (APHA) for consideration during the 2021 policy cycle, attached. This will be reviewed/commented on by APHA leadership and members over the next few months, but we encourage feedback from as many other diverse stakeholder organizations and community members as possible.
BACKGROUND: APHA identified this topic as a policy statement gap in 2019 to update and replace an older policy statement (https://lnkd.in/duVi5y6). Policy statements help shape APHA's position on legislation/regulations and inform materials including briefs, statements, reports, and more. In summer 2019 we assembled our volunteer working group, and the effort has been in the making since then.
