The purpose of this message is to notify you of two upcoming Transportation Planning Information Exchange Webinars sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of Planning, Environment, and Realty and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Office of Planning and Environment.  The first webinar is titled “Understanding the Links between Transportation and Health:  Case Studies from the Field” scheduled for Monday, May 23, 2016 at 1:00 PM (ET).  The second webinar is titled “Introduction of the Rapid Policy Assessment Tool” scheduled for Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 1:00 PM (ET).  Both webinars will be recorded.

Webinar Title:   Understanding the Links between Transportation and Health:  Case Studies from the Field

This webinar will center on a discussion of the benefits of bringing health together with transportation.  Topics will include:

• The DOT/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Transportation and Health Tool, and its relationship to States and Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs).
• Examples from three MPOs on how health and transportation impacts the environment, safety, active transportation, air quality, and connectivity.
• An overview of the FTA Rides to Wellness Program.

Webinar Title:   Introduction of the Rapid Policy Assessment Tool (RPAT)

The RPAT is open-source software that enables users to quickly compare travel demand impacts of various land use, investment, and policy scenarios. This webinar includes a brief tutorial covering the basics of RPAT, strategy evaluation, and output performance metrics. Two case studies from Oregon and Pennsylvania will demonstrate the uses of RPAT, lessons learned from its implementation, and best practices for effective presentation of outputs from RPAT to non-technical personnel.
