I am forwarding information from the Census Bureau:

Subject: New Geographic Products Released today

Three TIGER related products have been released to the US Census Bureau's TIGER related products website:

TIGERweb – TIGERweb is a web-based map viewer allowing users to view and query boundaries and features that are stored in our MAF/TIGER geographic database.  It currently shows the 2010 Census geographic boundaries and features.  In addition to the geographic attributes it contains the 2010 Census population and housing unit counts for the selected geographic unit.  TIGERweb can be accessed at http://tigerweb.geo.census.gov/tigerwebmain/tigerweb_main.html.

In addition to the TIGERweb viewer there is a Web Map Service (WMS) available that allows users to connect to the TIGERweb service through their own tools such as ArcGIS.  The TIGERweb WMS can be accessed through //tigerweb.geo.census.gov/ArcGIS/services/tigerWMS/MapServer/WMSServer

Please contact geo.tigerweb@census.gov for any questions or comments about the TIGERweb viewer and WMS.

KML File Prototypes – 2010 Census counties and census tract KML files are now available.  These are prototype KML files released to gather input from our customers about future KML files.  We are soliciting feedback on the type of layers and attributes that should be released in future KML products.  We hope to add KML files to our suite of mapping related files in 2012.  Feedback sent to geo.tiger@census.gov by February 28, 2012 will be used to create the requirements for future KML products.  See http://www.census.gov/geo/www/tiger/kml/kml.html to access the KML files and for additional information about them.

1992 TIGER/Line Files – The 1992 TIGER/Line files are now available on the ftp site.  These files had been previously only been available on CD-Rom.  These are the original 1992 TIGER/Line files from the CDs that have been zipped into county packages and posted to the ftp site.  We cannot provide technical support for using or converting these files into other formats as most of the staff who worked on these files are no longer working with us.  See http://www.census.gov/geo/www/tiger/t92top.html to access the 1992 TIGER/Line Files.  Please send questions or comments to geo.tiger@census.gov.

For those that need shapefile formatted data prior to 2000 we recommend obtaining files from the National Historical Geographic Information System (NHGIS) at https://www.nhgis.org/

Links to all of these products can be found by selecting “TIGER” from the middle of the Census Bureau’s main page at http://www.census.gov.
