Sorry, I was not clear with regard to the losses in transit share – I only implied that transit was not able to capture its share of overall growth in person trips in several metropolitan areas.  Was that a surprise for planners?

 

On another note, commute time would have been even higher if it were not for the declining transit share as a percentage.  And auto-ownership may have peaked too – as the increases are not as apparent as from 1980-1990.
