In response to questions about the availability of shapefiles for the new delineations announced by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on February 28, 2013, the Geography Division, Census Bureau has created a set of shapefiles providing boundaries for metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas, county components within metro/micro areas, metropolitan divisions, and combined statistical areas. We also have produced geodatabase files for these areas. These files do not contain all of the attributes contained in our standard TIGER/Line shapefile products. They are based on 2012 county TIGER/Line shapefiles.

http://www.census.gov/geo/maps-data/data/tiger-line.htmlThe 2013 public TIGER/Line shapefiles released late Summer/early Fall 2013 will contain of the full set of geographic areas delineated by OMB: metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas, metropolitan divisions, combined statistical areas, New England city and town areas (NECTAs), NECTA divisions, combined NECTAs, as well as principal city information.
