TRANSPORTATION PLANNING ENGINEER

Regional Planning Council (TRPC) has an opening for a full-time Transportation
Planning Engineer. TRPC is the
Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Lacey-Olympia-Tumwater urban area,
and the Regional Transportation Planning Organization for the
The Engineer works as part of a multi-disciplinary team on
transportation, land use, and environmental issues. The Engineer is a specialist on the
transportation team, concentrating on travel demand forecasting, data analysis
and interpretation, scenario evaluation, and air quality modeling.
This position offers the motivated individual opportunities to develop
and expand his or her professional capacities through research and development
of innovative modeling applications that support the agency’s transportation and
land use programs, including but not limited to: integration of travel demand
modeling with GIS analysis; creation of microsimulation model for regional
corridor analysis using Paramix software; and integration of land use and
transport analysis utilizing UrbanSim through an established partnership with
the University of Washington and Puget Sound Regional
Council.
REQUIREMENTS:
A BA or BS in traffic or civil engineering, transportation planning,
urban planning, or a related field is required, as well as substantial
experience in all aspects of transportation modeling. A Master’s Degree in Transportation
Engineering, Urban or Regional Planning, or a Professional Engineering license
is preferred, as is demonstrated experience with EMME/2. Working knowledge of transportation
planning and growth management concepts and practices is highly desirable.

Hiring Range:
$3,898-4,241per month depending on
qualifications
