Subject: The FHWA is seeking a program manager for the National Household Travel Survey Program (NHTS)

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As you may already know that Heather Contrino, our National Household Travel Survey (NHTS) program manager accepted a promotion to a team leader position in the office of FHWA's Transportation Policy Studies leading the policy studies team. During her tenure with the NHTS program, she took the NHTS program to a new level and was an incredible asset to the office. I am certain that the void she left behind is a huge one.

Currently we are seeking applicants for the NHTS Program Manager position at the GS grade 14 level to manage the NHTS program. While the 2009 NHTS data collection is complete, data analysis and information dissemination is still a significant challenge. In addition, we are faced with challenges including the study of alternative survey methods for future surveys, enhancement of our current partnerships, and establishment of new coalitions. The ideal candidate shall have broad knowledge on large scale survey design and implementation, ability to evaluate and identify improvement opportunities for the survey program, and skills to develop effective working relationships at all levels inside and outside the organization. The position is located in FHWA’s HQ office in Washington DC.

I will send you the application link as soon as the official web publication on the position is live.  In the mean time, if you are interested in the position, please feel free to forward me your resume. Also, I am asking you to forward the information to any potential candidate you are aware of.

Thank you for your assistance!

Tianjia
