[ABJ30] Annual Meeting

I trust that everyone is ready for the Annual Meeting and is off to a good start with the new year. For our meeting next Monday afternoon I want to remind you to think about the update to the TRB Critical Issues. Attached is a Mark Norman memo discussing TRB interest in our review of them. While my first reaction to all of this was, "here we go again" the more I thought about it the more I realized that I have been bumping my head against what I would call a far reaching critical issue within the data community but affecting all the other issues combined. The issue as I see it is privacy and confidentiality. The problem however, is very complex. Attached is an abridged version of a presentation I did 3 years on behalf of the committee the last time we talked about critical issues.
