Hi Tom.
UDMS asked me to pass on the attached announcement for their
conference. I wonder if you can get it into whatever publicity
channel you have access to. Should be very interesting and it has
become very academic the past few years.
Hope all is well with you.

Attached is the list of papers (titles only) that have been assigned to
our committee. if there are any that are of particular interest to you
let me know and I will try to get it assigned to you. Also, many of you
are in larger organizations where you might know of a particular person
who would make a good expert reviewer and be willing. Let me know who
they are and I can add them to the software. I will be making paper
assignments over the next 3 days. Finally, please understand that you
may get a paper or two that you did not volunteer to review. In the
distribution process I am continually trying to match what I believe are
your expertise with the papers in hand. Sometimes I do not hit the
mark.
Let me give a special thanks to Nathan Erlbaum our state DOT member for
prodding me to get this listing pulled together.

I am sure you need no reminder but it officially TRB paper review
season. TRB has just opened the software and chairs can begin passing
out review assignments. Well, Tom did asked me to wait until after
today but I did notice that the software has been opened and is
functional. We currently have 34 papers most of them around 22 have
something to do with travel time or speed. Of those it looks like 8-9
of the papers are directly tied to using cell phone technology for
collecting data. Some of the cell phone papers are dealing with speed
while others are dealing with more generic O-D issues. Needless to say
the reviews will not be evenly distributed and as in past years I will
have to reach far beyond the committee membership to assure that we have
the best pool of reviewers given the papers' subject areas.
While you are waiting for your paper assignments, do not forget about
the strategic plan for the committee that Catherine Lawson is working
on. here is the link to the draft that is in our mail list archives.
please pay special attention to the "REVIEW OF PREVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED
AREAS OF INTEREST" and provide comments back to Catherine.

Attached is the newletter covering the Data Committees Section. One item
should be of particular interest to the Urban Data Committee--the Wooton
Award. As long as I have been chair we have never had a paper accepted
for an award. Well, we now do. Investigating the Transferability of
National Household Travel Survey Data, by Abolfazi Mohammadian and
Yongping Zhang, of University of Illinois at Chicago (07-2030),
submitted by ABJ30 was accepted by the Policy and Organization group as
a recipient of this years Wooton award. I think the TRB executive board
still has to put its rubber stamp on it.
