The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology (OST-R) is seeking an Operations Research Analyst for the Office of Spatial Analysis and visualization (OSAV), within the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). BTS is a principal federal statistical agency that develops key information on the extent, use, and consequences of all forms of transportation. BTS is responsible for leading the development of high quality transportation data and statistics, including geospatial data and information; and advancing their effective uses in both public and private decision making.

This position is responsible for managing critical national geospatial and transportation network analysis programs, conducting transportation network analyses and effectively communicating results. The incumbent will develop geospatial network analysis tools and applications for BTS involving the development of interactive transportation network data, analysis and visualization tools and maps for range of customer segments. The incumbent will assist in the development of multimodal freight and passenger network modeling capable of supporting intermodal network analysis and the creation or adaption of models to flow people, goods, vehicles, and craft over the transportation networks. The incumbent works in a cross-unit corporate team environment on geospatial data, analysis and visualization and will occasionally serve on cross-cutting teams within BTS related to a multitude of agency program responsibilities.
