Post-Doctoral Position

Department of Civil Engineering, University of Memphis

 

Position Summary: The Department of Civil Engineering, University of Memphis invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in transportation beginning as soon as possible in the broader area of demand-responsive technology-enhanced shared transportation systems, smart cities, autonomous and connected vehicles. Outstanding candidates with expertise in related areas will also be considered. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Sabya Mishra and on projects related to transportation demand modeling, planning and operations (both on passenger and freight). Salary is extremely competitive and includes full benefits. The appointment period will be for 12 months initially with possibility of extension to second year based on performance.

 

Minimum Qualification and Experience: Candidates should have a Ph.D. (or have successfully defended their dissertation prior to the start date) with a background in transportation. Applicants from civil engineering, applied mathematics, computer science and/or operations research will be preferred but other disciplines will also be considered. Candidates should have a publication record in transportation and/or related fields. Successful candidates will be fluent in English, have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication (both oral and written) skills, and be able to work independently and within a collaborative energetic research team.

 

Primary Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to conduct scholarly research, contribute to the formulation and submission of manuscripts for publications in peer reviewed journals, mentor graduate research assistants and students.
